HAIKU is a type of Japanese poetry about nature. At least one word must identify a specific season—spring, summer, fall, or winter—either by naming the season or including something typical of that time of year. A haiku captures a small scene of something that is happening now. The present tense is always used. It is three lines long.

The first line is five syllables;

The second line is seven syllables;

The third line is five syllables.

Sun moves on rubble,
weeds grow sideways in small cracks,
small vines cling to walls.
