Chain headpiece:
European 4 in 1 and 4 in 1 round expansion, spiral chain

The second most popular chainmaille item these days is the chain coif. I was interested in learning how to weave the round segment that is the basis of a number of standard elements in chain armor.

What developed from this rather frustrating experiment was a headpiece that was not exactly a coif, certainly not to be considered armor, but creative in its design and ended up being very feminine.

Chain gloves:
European 4 in 1; approx. 5.5mm rings

I don't know exactly how I managed to come up with these... The left one was made in about two weeks over a christmas break while I was feeling particularly anti-social. It was an effort of trial and error, try it on then take it apart, slowly building from opposite ends--wrist first, then fingers, then connect them.

Having completed one glove, a few months later I began work on the right hand glove. Now, my right hand is noticeably larger than the left, so it wasn't just a matter of copying the original. However, in figuring out how to create the right glove, I was also able to fix the mistakes in the left one, now visible under scrutiny.

Two months later (yes, I do have a life aside from knitting tiny metal links), I had a pair of roughly identical fingerless gauntlets. They aren't necessarily finished, but they are wearable, reasonably comfortable, and as long as I'm not swinging an axe while wearing them, they hold up pretty well.

Chain belt:
European 4 in 1; 8mm nickel silver rings; garnet drops

This was simply meant to be a fashion piece and an experiment in the "V" pattern that makes up the "skirt."
