Everybody needs a hobby...
|
Ever since I can remember, my hobbies have usually included some
kind of arts&crafts. The specific interests have changed a bit
over the years, but creating something, something "useful,"
with my hands has always appealed to me and taken up my ever dwindling
free time.
I am one of those lucky people who is actually good
at following written directions in books with limited visual aid.
This means that I can go to a craft center, pick out a book, get
some basic materials, go home and usually create a fairly decent
example of whatever the book instructed me to do. If the first attempt
was sucessful and created something that I liked enough to do again,
I'd begin experimenting and creating my own designs and techniques.
I am currently most proficient at Beadwork and Sewing, and I dabble
with chainmaille, jewelry making, and a few other random crafts.
I arrived at the level of skill I'm willing to display here via
the above method--for the most part. Most of the objects, jewelry,
clothing, and other random bits I make usually stay with me, but
crafting is also a handy skill to have when it comes to gift-giving.
On occasion I am asked to make something for someone for some small
profit.
There is always room for improvement, and I am always trying to
increase my proficiency, or delve into new creative territory. Comments
and/or questions are, of course, welcome.
