Geisha humor
It's hard being a female artist/performer who is not a hooker in Japan these days. According to Wikipedia, there are fewer than 1000 geisha in Japan today, when in the 1920s there were more than 80,000. And now those remaining are the subjects of dog food commercials. Although the commercial is a joke, I can't help but think that a modern-day geisha would rather entertain a cute, well-behaved beagle than a raunchy American businessman.
Of course I don't really know, since I have not read the illuminating book Memoirs of a Geisha or seen the movie. I do, however, enjoy this special director's cut preview. I watch it over and over again!
